One Doctor vs. Split Care

A doctor with time to understand your story

The default is split care — a therapist on one side, a prescriber on the other, working from separate files.

Therapy and medication live in one relationship here.

Psychiatry has the best outcomes when it is practiced by a single provider alongside psychotherapy.

Patients have one less appointment to schedule, and nothing falls into the gap between a separate prescriber and a therapist who never talk.

CBT? ACT? CPT?

The modalities matters less than whether we work well together. Once that trust is built, I am your thinking partner and confidant.

We experience your story together, through the ups and downs, always working to find a brighter future.

Longer, more frequent sessions allow me to track the whole person through their behavioral and medical fluctuations.

When you need help, you can reach me directly.

Attention is part of the treatment, as much as any technique or style.

How I Actually Work

What do my therapy sessions look like?

Therapy works best when it's a collaboration, not a performance. That means I match my tools to my patients. I don’t force patients into my tool kit.

Not everything needs long-term work — brief, targeted therapy suits many issues, but deep work requires time and continuity. My patients get the most out of therapy when it is provided as a long-term relationship.

In the room, I formulate out loud. If I'm thinking something about a pattern in your story, I'll tell you and see if it resonates — because what's the point of keeping my reasoning in my head while you sit across from me?

We set measurable goals and track them… but sometimes we’ll just talk. Like any relationship, this one needs to ebb and flow. You can’t initiate drastic change week-after-week. That would send you right back to another therapist’s couch.

Talk Therapy for Adults in NYC

All New Yorkers need a good shrink

Before I was a psychiatrist, I was a scientist doing my doctoral research in cancer immunology; asking why a cell behaves the way it does, what sits underneath the surface? That’s not so different from the art of psychiatry.

Patients tend to say that I felt like a real person. I hope you come to consider me a thinking partner, rather than a provider. When you have a problem at work, in a relationship, or somewhere else, my office is a safe space where we can tackle your challenges, together.

You are more than a diagnosis, and my practice reflects that.

What Therapy Can Help You Understand

These are life situations we sit with together — not labels to pin on you.

Anxiety that won’t quiet down

Depression and low mood

Trauma that still shapes the present

Stress and burnout

Relationship patterns that keep repeating

Life transitions and identity

High-functioning professionals

“I want someone who actually gets it”

Wanting to understand, not just medicate

Making sense of your own story

At your own pace

You don’t have to choose between understanding why and getting real help.

Some people do well with therapy alone; others do better when medication is part of the plan — but that's not a decision we rush. We make it together, once we actually understand what's driving things, and never before.

If you’re curious, let’s start with a conversation.
