How I Practice

Concierge care offers personalized support

Time is the most important part of our relationship.

As an out-of-network provider, I am not contracted with any insurance company.

Insurance plans prevent psychiatrists from providing therapy.

My concierge practice revolves around the research-proven combination of therapy & psychopharmacology.

My concierge practice is restricted to 200 total patients.

An average insurance-based doctor is required to hold 800 patients, or more!

We have time to get to know each other, through the ups and downs. You have direct access to myself and my office when you need it.

When you need a refill 2 days before international travel, we can help with that.

Maybe you need a last minute appointment before a big board meeting.

I have the flexibility necessary to support patients with demanding careers and responsibilities.

Your First Visit and Beyond

What to expect during your first visit with me

Headshot of a South Asian Man

A concierge evaluation is different than what you’ve experienced at a psychiatry office, before. We have a full hour to discuss your history, and who you are as a person. It’s the first step towards developing a genuine relationship.

I spend the first session on the big picture:

1) Who are you? I want to know the whole person sitting in front of me — not a symptom list, but your work, your relationships, your family, and your identity.

2) What’s happening in your life right now that’s causing you to seek help? And why now? What changed?

3) What have you already tried, and where did previous treatments stall out? That history is data, not failure. Bring records and medication lists if you have them — or just bring your story.

This is a plan we built together, not a script and a follow-up in three months.

My first priority is to get you started with expert psychotherapy. When medication seems like a good option, I provide psycho-education and we decide on a course together. And if you arrive already carrying several prescriptions, we go slowly — understand the drivers first, then peel back rather than pile on.

The ultimate goal is “fewer medications, thoughtfully chosen.”

Therapy & meds with the same physician

I'm your partner, not just a provider.

Therapy and medication management with a single psychiatrist is the ‘gold standard’ of mental healthcare. That’s why I provide therapy and prescribing in one office.

As a private, out-of-network psychiatrist, my concierge model is a deliberate return to the kind of psychiatry supported by research. This model allows me time to understand you as a whole-person.

Questions Before We Begin

Tell Me What's Going On — In Your Own Words

You don't need a polished summary or the right clinical words — just tell me what's been happening, and what's changed.

We'll make sense of it together, at a pace that fits your life. If you're curious, that's enough to start.

This is not an emergency practice. If you are experiencing an emergency, call 911, or call or text 988 for the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline.

About the Doctor

About Dr. Kavin Fatehchand

As an MD-PhD, I bring a scientist's eye to your mental health.

Before I was a psychiatrist, I was a scientist doing my doctoral research in cancer immunology; asking why a cell behaves the way it does, what sits underneath the surface? That’s not so different from the art of psychiatry.

Patients tend to say that I felt like a real person. I hope you come to consider me a thinking partner, rather than a provider. When you have a problem at work, in a relationship, or somewhere else, my office is a safe space where we can tackle your challenges, together.

You are more than a diagnosis, and my practice reflects that.
