Do you take insurance?

No. I operate on a fee-for-service basis and I am not paneled with any commercial insurance company — payment is due at the time of service. Most patients then submit a superbill to their insurance company and are reimbursed through their out-of-network benefits. What comes back depends on your specific plan, so it is worth checking before the first appointment.

Why fee-for-service instead of insurance?

Time. Insurance-scale psychiatry pays for short visits, and short visits are where a full history gets missed. Time is the most important part of the doctor-patient relationship — fee-for-service is what protects it. You pay the practice directly, and the appointment is long enough to actually do the work.

What is a superbill, and how does reimbursement work?

A superbill is an itemized receipt carrying the codes your insurance company needs. You pay the practice directly, submit the superbill to your insurer, and reimbursement comes back to you under your out-of-network benefits. We provide the superbill, and if a claim is processed incorrectly, we will work with you in good faith to get it corrected.

What does treatment cost?

The full fee schedule is listed above — the initial consultation is the longest appointment, and follow-ups are billed by type: combined therapy and medication, or medication management alone. If your situation does not fit those categories, ask. The answer will be a number, not a surprise.
